I was given an assignment to photograph table settings in an outdoor situation. A tough task with changing lighting conditions. It began as a nice day with a high haze of clouds. This made it easy because there was no harsh sunlight creating too much contrast. The natural light was working. But by afternoon the sun came out full and the light was so hard that the next shot was terrible. What was I to do? I went back to the car to find anything to help with the problem and rolled up with my gels was about a 6' X 3' foot piece of diffusion tissue. I was saved. For the rest of the day I could soften the light on the place settings, let the sunshine through when I wanted it and created some beautiful still life photographs. In our tutorial we show you this technique. Follow along and try it. You will discover a new way to photograph objects outdoors and open up a whole new world of photographic opportunities.
