Yesterday Robert and I have attended BlogWorld Conference in NYC. Last year we had a chance of meeting Darren Rowse from Digital-photography school. This time around we met Jared Polin from an educational and highly entertaining photography blog FroKnowsPhoto
Listening to Jared speak was very inspirational. During his presentation Jared talked about his passion for photography. I was touched to learn that his mother (who sadly died of cancer) was the one who inspired his passion.
Jared reflected that he felt that he has missed the moment when he could spend more time doing photography together with his mother and helping her with the digital aspect of it. We often miss moments and postpone some actions but life is often very generous about offering a second chance. But when we lose a loved one, unfortunately we cannot turn the things back. Jared learned from that experience and transitioned it in a positive way. He build up his visual appearance, grew some hair, and worked some muscles (he was kind enough to demonstrate shirtless photos of himself in front of the audience) But most importantly he turned from being a self-indulging photographer (like many of us) into a selfless fellow who shares his knowledge with others.
